Unless
you already have full spectrum lights above your head in your workplace now,
chances are very high that you have unhealthy cool white lamps.
Why
are cool white lamps wrong?
|
|
Cool
white lamps produce eye strain, headaches and fatigue because of the use
of unbalanced phosphors resulting in poor optical performance due to a low
color rendering index and color temperature. |
|
|
Cool
white lamps use inexpensive components. As a result the performance
curve of cool white lamps drops rapidly which results in low hour rating
performance and poor lumen maintenance.
|
|
|
Cool
white lamps have been banned in all government buildings in Germany
because of the clear health risks involved. |
|
|
Full
Spectrum lamps reduce levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, cool white
lamps actually contribute to high levels of cortisol.
|
|
|
Full
Spectrum lamps slow down the aging process of the retina, reduces skin
cancer and generally improves our overall mood and feeling of well-being.
|
|
|
Physiological
studies have also conclusively shown that, under full spectrum lamps,
humans have increased oxygen intake, reduced heart rate, increased ability
to absorb vitamin D, calcium and improved muscle utilization. (Hughes,
1986) (Neer, 1984)

Independent Tests have been applied to every popular
light therapy fixture on the market and found that those who do not use true
color,
full spectrum lamps will call their cool white lamps
"broad spectrum" or low level full spectrum lamps. These terms
do not exist within the lamp manufacturing industry.
The term "broad-spectrum" is simply a marketing
term used to justify the use of antiquated cool white fluorescent lamps which
use technology that is over 75 years old.
They might also claim that their ballast transforms their cool white bulbs into full spectrum bulbs. This is not possible.
Beware -- some companies list user hours for much more than the average life of the lamp and will not guarantee these user hours (e.g., listing 20,000 user hours as the lamp life when the average first burnout is 3,000 hours).
MAKE THE SWITCH TO FULL SPECTRUM AND PROTECT YOUR EYES,
IT WILL BE WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN!
